Dáil Motion on Violence Against Women

As we offer our condolences to the family and friends of Ashling Murphy, we remember her, Sandra Collins and all victims and survivors of violence against women.

In the Dáil yesterday, it became clear that there is solidarity on this issue – we must work together to create an Ireland where women and children are free from abuse and violence.

I asked the Minister to ensure that frontline support services have the urgent resources they need to respond to increased calls, as well as medium and long-term funding.

I called for a 2-monthly appraisal in the Dáil of our progress on this issue – a time to examine what we have achieved, and what needs to be done next. Unless we keep our focus on this matter, nothing will change.
