The new Minister for Rural Affairs, Michael Ring, needs to act immediately to resolve the difficulties in the implementation of the LEADER Programme 2014-2020. The decision to have Local Authorities deliver the programme was wrong. He needs to reduce administration layers and decrease the time from ‘expression of interest phase’ to grant contract stage.
