Rural Beef Farming a ‘Public Good’

The Teagasc Research Director agrees that beef farming in marginalised areas in the West provides an environmental ‘public good’ and thinks that the CAP will reward farmers for this contribution.

Professor O’Mara also commented on the impacts of the dairy sector on the beef sector, vertical integration models, as well as Teagasc’s relationship with beef factories, particularly with regard to pricing and exporting.
